A Song of Home Coming

After a long stay on Canada's west coast, Newfoundland singer/songwriter Mary Barry has come home. Sitting in Vancouver airport, boarding pass in hand, Mary wrote Red Eye Tonight, the song that would become the title track of her third independent studio album. The thirteen tracks cover a range of themes from love (Twilight Magic, So Shy) and loss (So Long, You're the One) to technological isolation. The disc includes a special tribute song to songwriter Laura Nyro, whose music has been recorded by dozens of artists all over the world.

The Band on Red Eye Tonight

Mary Barry

Mary's silky, sultry vocals are accompanied by Brian Way on piano, Rick Hollett on saxophone and flute, Pat Boyle on flugelhorn and trumpet, Bill Brennan on vibes and percussion, Gary Davis on guitar, Mark Peddle on acoustic and electric bass, and Gary Tilley on drums. The band was aptly referred to as the "The St. John's All-Star Band" at the 2007 St. John's Interntional Jazz Festival.
